Hey y’all!
I know I haven’t updated in ages, but what better way to do it than to talk about Friday’s Praise and Worship night? It was a great, great night full of singing, games, singing, stories, sharing, and more singing! There was awesome food in the basement too! Thanks for all of you who came out, and I hope you can all come out next time! Feel free to drop by every 2nd and 4th Friday to join us for fellowship!
In Him who is awesome,
Hansel

Updated:
Well, it turns out we didn’t end up watching a movie, but went for dim sum at Sun Sui Wah instead. It was yummy, but unfortunately, most of you weren’t there because of the last-minute planning. We will do our best to not make it happen again. However, we did take a look-around in the games store downstairs, and we’ve got a couple games in mind for an upcoming meeting. Let’s hope you guys will enjoy it (if you end up coming then).
Hansel

We live in a broken world, torn apart by anger, hate, death, murder, disease, economic downturns, mourning, poverty… I don’t have to keep listing the terrible things that ravage our world for you to know that they exist.
For many, their answer may be bracing themselves or even hiding from disaster, but how about an unconventional approach (for those of you who were there Sunday, Jodie Rees [sp?] touched on doing the opposite of what the world expects)? Matt Redman, the writer of many internationally known worship songs, says with the advent of his seventh album, titled We Shall Not Be Shaken:
“This album praises God’s steadiness,” says Redman. “We’re being reminded how shakable earthly things are – job losses, home foreclosures. When we travelled to Korea, there were high profile suicides due to the failing marketplace. So it feels appropriate now to address the economy in a worship song.”
Doing devotions one time a while ago, there was a saying that has stuck with me. It goes something along the lines of this: When life knocks you down on your knees, you’re in the perfect position to pray. School, work, or life in general got you down? With all due respect, PFFFT! Our God is bigger than that, and He’ll give you a different perspective if you look to Him for help. There isn’t any singing required to worship; trust in God and He will change your life.

Harro!
If you’re like me, you like music. Especially music that praises God. Now, not to bash Praise 106.5 (I love it and I listen to it all the time in the car), but their song collection seems like the same 20 songs on repeat/shuffle. Yes, I have grown tired of small collection of tunes and sluggish speed to add more to their database.
So, what I have been doing for the past half year or so is listening to web radio. I do it a lot through my phone when I grow tired of the Praise collection, and I would like to share the station with you on your computer.

Update: I added a link to the side for easy access. Enjoy!
Bonjourno everybody!
As most of you know because of our lovely barbeque at the Laus’ yesterday (and probably the reason you’re here right now), there have been changes on the IT (if you will) side of things for our fellowship.
We now have, courtesy of a coupon code that made the domain name just 2 dollars for a year (remind me to renew the lease next June), have our website officially parked on www.alternativetabernacle.com. I know. I actually managed to find www.alt-tab.ca for 10 dollars, but since this one was only two bucks I wanted to try it out. If you guys prefer that one instead, I could definitely give it a go.
Now, once you get to the site, you’ll see a flash animation (I will change it into a cooler one, I promise) that you can click, which will bring you to blog.alternativetabernacle.com. This is our WordPress blog, hosted on WordPress.com (I just forwarded the URL to there, since I didn’t want to run the server from home on my almost-not-working desktop computer). You will find in your inboxes instructions on how to post, etc., including other items about e-mail.
So, without further ado, I present you the new site. Note that some of the links/pictures in the older posts may not work (yet), because they were directly transferred from my computer, and everything is different.
Sincerely,
Hansellio
Hey everybody!
It’s Hansel here for another update, this time on our 30 Hour Famine. Please, please PLEASE head on over to the 30 Hour Famine page for pictures, and if you want to download that sweet powerpoint Lu sweated over for Tears of the Saints, it’s all there too! Rock on, Alt-Tab!
Click me for a direct trip to the link, you lazy people!

Hey y’all!
So some of you have finally come to your senses and are frequenting this site more often! Suggestions, suggestions please! I want to make this site one that conforms to your expectations.
Theo and Lu, thanks for the updates! Way to keep the Alt-Tab love going
Make sure you read their posts, to keep yourself in the know. I’ve updated the calendar to accommodate the Good Friday service.
I’m actually kinda disappointed nobody commented on my avatar in the comments. You can get your own too, in place of the “Mystery Man” picture, and all you have to do is log into your dashboard, and under “Users” on the left you should see the “Local Avatar” option. I’ve set it to display pictures that are 80×80 pixels, so your best bet is to do a custom Google image search to find one you like, and upload it yourself.
Also, thanks again to Sherman and the church for the donated hard drive, it’s SATA instead of IDE so it’s theoretically faster. Have you guys noticed any difference in speed? I initially had some hardware issues (wonky computer!) but as long as I don’t turn it off, it seems to be fine.
In the meantime, w00t you guys! Keep it up.
Solus Christus,
Hansmellio
